Paths of Old
Walks from Old, Walgrave, Hannington & Scaldwell
The swathe of countryside lying between Northampton and Market Harborough is a delightful area of gently rolling farmland, criss-crossed with quiet paths and sprinkled with attractive villages.
Situated to the north-east of Pitsford Water, the village of Old is an ideal focal point for exploring the area, with paths and lanes radiating in all directions and the opportunity to create circular walks of varying length on generally good, easy-to-follow paths.
The neighbouring villages of Walgrave, Hannington, Lamport and Scaldwell are all within easy reach and, for those who prefer a longer walk, there are other villages and lengthier circuits that can be achieved from Old, along with numerous options beginning a short drive away.
Nearby Pitsford Water and the Brampton Valley Way (the former Northampton to Market Harborough railway line now used for hiking, biking and horse riding) are also great for walking as well as other recreational activities, and there are also a number of stately homes in the area.
Many of the villages have a lovely country pub at their heart, and what could be nicer than a refreshing drink at the end of a summer’s walk or a Sunday lunch part way round a bracing Winter ramble? So, come and explore the area with Paths of Old, and find out more about this beautiful corner of England.
